Can you tell me about reel maker Norm MacDonald?

    Hi,
I have a beautifully made 4 1/2 inch fly reel made by Vancouver reel maker Norm MacDonald. He made the reel in the early 1960's and I understand that he made reels for Orvis to be used as gifts. He worked at the Vancouver airport and that's about all I know.
Can anyone tell me more about him? When did he start making reels? How many did he make? How many different models did he make? When did he stop making reels? Where did he live? When did he pass away? ETC.
Thanks very much for your help.

I had replied to this thread already but the reply seems to have been deleted.

I believe he began making reels in the 1950s and died in January 2003. (this according to the Sport Fishing Museum @ http://66.51.163.9/fishing/collectio...83/startRow/5/). He made very few reels but did also make a few centerpin reels in addition to the fly reels.
